With the official release of the new Zelda Wii concept art people have already started to theorize what the new game will entail. The first obvious thing is that Link is not equipped with a sword. I know Miyamoto had said to make sure you notice that so that all but confirms it is important to the story or gameplay. Browsing the message boards has brought some wild theories to my attention but the most believable is the theory that the girl standing behind Link in fact the Master Sword. Funny, I always thought the sword was a dude.
All joking aside, this idea is one that I am quickly getting on board with. The colors and designs of the unknown girl match up pretty well. Her face has a metal/steel color. The jewel on the hilt of the sword seems to be present on her body and her cape is designed awfully similar to the hilt as well. What do you think, are we thinking too far into it? I am excited about the possibilities of this. Hopefully we hear more soon. Does anyone have any other theories?
well her legs are like the sword as well...
ReplyDeletemaybe the absence of a sword means its less action?
to me link here looks more like oot link.
i hope this game turns to be better than tp u__u
that game really dissapointed me
I have been thinking about how it would work. Would she follow you around and point at enemies you want her to attack? Does this mean no more melee combat? Would it be normal gameplay but sometimes she comes out. who knows but i am dying of excitement!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe she is the spirit of the Master Sword, and the story revolves around that?
ReplyDelete^^
ReplyDeleteI would like to know more about the origins of the Master Sword.
There's a Master Sword comparison image of the concept artwork here:

i dont think that blue thing will be the sword. maybe is like some kind of Midna but from this game.
ReplyDeleteI think that she looks like the great fairy from Wind Waker. Maybe she transformed her power to the master sword or something...
ReplyDeleteshe does look like the fairy, i didnt even think of that!
ReplyDeleteshe is the sword. She will occasionally turn back to human if only to give a bit of advise or something, and turn back into a sword a second later. That is how its gonna be.
ReplyDeleteNO WAY!!!
ReplyDeleteThat little girl (or very wimpy little boy, you can never tell with these japanese developers) is sooo not the master sword.
Anybody remember when the first images of midna were released? Everyone thought she was the master sword to! Nintendos smarter than that.
Take a look at the edges of the pic. It looks to me like she just blew her way out of some firey dungeon that Link is protecting her from.
Having the sword as a "living thing" will be their plot device for incorporating the more "live" 1:1 motion controls with the MotionPlus. Simple.
ReplyDeleteHas anybody noticed that Link is not carrying the Hylian Shield? Could that be a new Mirror shield? Or something else.
ReplyDeleteI don't get why people were disappointed with TP...It was a very polished, well-made game and even had more character interaction and darker story than most Zeldas in the past...
ReplyDeleteAt least this one already looks to have a darker tone.
Master Sword origin story, anyone?
The Hyrulian crest on the Hylian shield shows the Triforce but also another upside down piece at the bottom. This mystery triangle has never been discussed in the zelda series. Farore of Courage, Din of Power, Nayru of Wisdom created the land of Hyrule, could the Master Sword's spirit be the Goddess of Time?, left in the Temple of Time for each generation of the "The Hero of Time". Ultimately creating the Quadra~Force. This may seem far fetched but it fits the pic...alot. Im guessing the passage of time will be influenced more in this game aswell as the Ocarina of Time.
ReplyDeleteI thought I remembered seeing that as a fairy, but the Gem matches on the sword and the spirit (disregard colors). This already seems to have a really nice start with just a picture that has fired up a crowd.
ReplyDeleteAdd on to what I just said, the article brought up something about new style of art. Just maybe Link will be going through two different worlds one with the master sword and one with the spirit... The flames that come around him could resemble some portal.
ReplyDeleteMy Friend showed me a print out of a website he found. It described this. It was a story of the a beginning of a possible Zelda game. It started out as Gannondorf becoming King of Hyrule and Link tried to stop it. But as he and Gannondorf hit swords the Master sword broke. Link then became an Outlaw for trying to Kill the king (Gannondorf). The article then said that Link had to find the pieces of the Master Sword with help from the spirit of the master sword. (Hence the Female in the Artwork.)
ReplyDeleteI personally agree with the "Girl behind Link is the Master Sword" theory. Her physical characteristics do match the Master Sword. And her looking like the Fairy Queen from Wind Waker is probably either a coincidence or the design was recycled. So...YAY!! WE MIGHT LEARN THE MASTER SWORD'S ORIGIN AND BACKSTORY!!!!
ReplyDeleteHIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!
